Steam needs defined parameters to achieve proper sterilisation.

Steam quality testing refers to the evaluation of the physical characteristics of the steam used in sterilisation. It ensures that the steam meets defined parameters to achieve proper sterilisation.

Following aseptic procedures, we will check that the steam used in autoclaves and other sterilisers is effective and consistent, which is essential for maintaining product sterility and regulatory compliance. We work to EN 285: European standard detailing large steam sterilisers and steam quality requirements.

Service Steam Quality Testing 1

Our approach

Our thorough approach to this process involves;
Sampling Location: Usually at the point-of-use (e.g., autoclave steam inlet).
Dryness Fraction Test: Measured using a calorimeter. High levels of condensate lower the dryness.
NCG Test: Performed using a test rig with a condensing chamber and measuring volume of uncondensed gases.
Superheat Test: Temperature and pressure readings determine if the steam is superheated.
